The Process
Completing Your Application
If you are interested in an advertised vacancy, please contact the Recruitment Department on 01235 466711 who will organise an Application Pack to be sent to you. The pack will include a job description and person specification for you to study to decide whether you feel you are suitable for the post.
The person specification details the skills, qualifications and knowledge which is required for the post and these will form the basis of our selection criteria. We ask you to show us that you meet the requirements by giving us enough information in the 'supporting information' section of your application. Please be aware that we do not assess CV's and all relevant information must be detailed on the application form. Additional pages can be attached if necessary.
Please ensure that your application is completed in black ink and that is signed in the correct place. Applications must be signed and for this reason we are unable to accept forms sent via the e-mail system.
Your application should be returned before 1600 hours on the advertised closing date to:
Resourcing Section
Civil Nuclear Constabulary
Culham Science Centre
Abington
Oxfordshire
OX14 3DB
Applications should not, under any circumstances, be hand delivered to the Science Centre. Your completed application will be treated in confidence and will only be made available to those staff involved with the application process.
Short listing
Short listing will normally take place within two weeks of the closing date. All applicants will be advised whether or not they have progressed onto the next stage.
Interview
You will be given at least one week's notice of the interview date. The interview will be a structured evidence-based interview based on a number of standard competencies drawn from a competency framework. The interview may include a specific competency assessment or presentation and this will be detailed in your invitation. We will endeavour to contact the successful applicant within one week of the interview taking place, unsuccessful and reserve candidates will be notified at the same time. Any offer of employment will be subject to satisfactory employment references, occupational health clearance and security checks.
Security Vetting
Most Police Staff posts will require the post holder to be either BC+ or SC security cleared. Both posts involve references being taken up on the subject. The security clearance may be subject to some delays depending on how long the referees take to respond. The target times for BC+ clearance are 6 days once all references are received and 45 days for SC clearance. The employee will be unable to commence employment until the Security clearance is in place.
