Health and Eyesight
All applicants must be in good health, of sound constitution and able both physically and mentally to perform the duties of a police officer once appointed.
Police Officers are covered by the Disability Discrimination Act. If you have a disability, we will make adjustments where it is reasonable to do so. Please provide any relevant information about your disability and details of any reasonable adjustment you think you may need to undertake the assessment process and the role of a police officer. Disability is defined as a 'physical or mental impairment which has a substantial and long term adverse effect on the avility to carry out normal day to day activities'.
Successful applicants will fill in a medical questionnaire and undertake a medical examination, which includes drugs tests prior to appointment. All applicants will have to get their eyesight examined prior to the medical assessment state. Failure to meet the standards required means that you will not be appointed. All information about the medical, eyesight, fitness test and fitness training are included in your application pack.
